Crisis Anyone?
Here on Lard Island we are getting ready for the weekend in Antwerp. We'll be running a Mud & Blood game throught out the day. Anyone else going to what is, in my opinion, the best wargames show in the world? Rich

Sadly no but had a few good nights out in Antwerp many years ago – some great places to eat IIRC. And the beer… But since you're here I should have sent you an email this afternoon – C4 have program on this week at 14:20 Voices from the First World War – might be your kind of thing. But then I guess you already knew it was on.

Yes, Mr Motorway and your humble servant will be visiting the secessionist held territories, and I know the well known double agent WDP will be attending as well.

I won't be there as I fouled up on the planning front (left it too late for cheap flights) but Steve Ayers will be there.

WDP- 11-03-2009

While I'm sorry you can't make it I'm not sure if I want to be in the same room with somebody named "fire at Will" :) I'll be there. Now that our PM might become the EU president it's vital that I meet with the northern agents.

Perhap 'Fire at Eccles and give him a good kick for fun' might be a more humane name? Enjoy chaps. After watching In Bruges I think I'll steer clear of such a violent and dangerous country.

I've always wanted to go to this show. Kiwi's always been keen on a visit to Antwerp as well (no doubt with jewellry buying in mind). However, not this year.

As long as you stay away from the alcoves you'll be fine. Besides, Antwerp and Bruges might as well be on opposite sides of the ocean. Totally different people :)

there was a lot of violence in that Waterloo film as well....

Gungnir- 11-03-2009

GM, that was bluddy furrunurs wrecking our countryside, and not clearing up after themselves.

goat major- 11-03-2009

Gung, i'm glad to hear your confirmation that the Dutch/Belgians played no meaningful role in the said event

Gungnir- 11-03-2009

We did, but we didn't make a mess. As a matter of fact, I know for a fact that one Dutch unit even took off their boots before advancing. Would the Brits pay that much respect to the crops? I think not! Besides, our victory at Waterloo, with some unguided Allied assistance, was onlty possible after the Dutch refused Wellington's orders and made a stand at Quatre Bras. If we would have listened the French would have been at the coast before the Brits got their act together.

At least the Brist didn't breathe garlic all over the countryside unlike the Frenchies.

Gungnir- 11-03-2009

Actually, considering the oral hygiene of the period, I doubt there was much of a difference.

You crazy fool, Fire at Will! You are missing the best show of the year. It is one of the few times that I break my vows of complete sobriety and defile the temple that is my body with the odd glass of weak shandy. I never got the opportunity to have a chat at Salute; we could have discussed the source of the Limpopo over a beverage.   :stars: :spew:
