FREE Battlegames special mega-download
If you've never tried Battlegames -- or perhaps have just bought the occasional issue -- then here's a special bonus to cheer you up now that the clocks have changed, the evenings are getting darker and the recession is still in full swing. Okay, even if you've been a subscriber since day 1, you might still like this. I've compiled a special edition, consisting of one article taken from each of the first 18 issues, to celebrate the fact that I've managed to keep this ship afloat for three years now. I've called this 82-page special "No charge!" and you can download it from the home page of the Battlegames website for free, nothing, rien, nichts, nada, zilch. All I would ask is that if you enjoy it, you pay a quick visit to the Battlegames Combat Stress Appeal website and make a small donation, however tiny, whatever you can afford. Combat Stress desperately need our help -- latest figures show a 60% increase in veterans needing their help in the last four years alone. Naturally, if you've never read anything from Battlegames before, I hope you will be impressed enough to pay a visit to our online shop and buy some full issues, either digitally or on traditional, lovely paper. Okay, here's the link. Have fun.

Thankyou, Henry. Your business acumen is only matched by your bonhomie. regards, donald

Ah, cool. Thanks. It's also good to see you're offering electronic editions of your issues. I might actually be able to buy some now; it's nearly impossible to find print copies in North America.

Henry A brilliant idea. Congratulations on your first three years! To create a magazine of this quality, that is so well received in a fickle market such as ours, is no mean feat. Well done Sir! I was chuffed to bits to see a certain piece there! I have another nearly ready for you, if you'd be interested in seeing the draft… Timmo

I was looking eagerly through 'No Charge' on my screen. Several articles really caught my eye: and I realised I have #5 onwards, so hard copies are sitting on my book shelves! LOL. Mental note: re-read "old" Battlegames mags. donald

Happy third birthday. I take it there is ice cream and trifle?

battleeditor- 10-26-2009

Happy third birthday. I take it there is ice cream and trifle? I wish. I've just got back from a 2 1/2 hour dentist appointment, root canals, extraction, the full works, with three more appointments to come. Thanks for your thoughts, guys -- and Timmo, of course send any new pieces through whenever you like. I'm putting issue 20 together right now, but hope to have that off to the printers by the end of next week.

Henry, I do hope that at some stage in the near future you will be able to have some time that is not blighted by an injury, affliction or someone excavating in your mouth or legs. Best wishes that such a time arrives quickly.  "Battlegames" is without a doubt at the pinnacle of wargaming publishing these days. It's hard to believe that it's only been around for 3 years (I assume Henry's been around for a bit longer than that). It's also a testament to the quality of this forum that so many members have items featured in this special :)

Blimey, you've certainly had an Annus Horribilis (I checked the spelling) in 2009, haven't you?!?! All the best for a speedy recovery and better health for 2010.
