Alternatively, Finland '39 The Russian/Finnish dust up has an interesting 'what if' as British forces were on their way to aid the Finns when the war ended.

Tardis- 06-19-2009

I have read mostly about the North American campaign...from Italy's adventures to the fall of Tripoli ahem, North African campaign? That's what comes of typing and talking to someone else Why do women always think men can multitask?

Eccles- 06-19-2009

I aways find special ops really interesting.

Peewee- 06-19-2009

Llamas can multitask. I can burp and fart at the same time. I could so easily have chosen any one of these, but since there's not an 'all of the above' option I voted for DAK. Nice to see there's a some interest in the Italians in N. Africa.

I aways find special ops really interesting. Well you've certainly had a few in your time, haven't you! :haha:

I know where you live...

Llamas can multitask. I can burp and fart at the same time. Doesn't this risk implosion?

1939/40 period is always the one for me, lots of interesting but fairly useless weapons, pretty fast-flowing actions and interesting tactics. Curiously I think I always enjoy the opening stages of any war - 1914 appeals in WW1, the Bishops War in ECW, Bull Run for ACW. It's that feeling of fairly green armies trying out new tactics and suprising each other (and themselves!) that attracts.

Ronan the Librarian- 06-19-2009

And of course, we can blame the horrendous tabletop losses on their naive tactics/uniforms/protection rather than our own bad generalship!!!

levied troop- 06-20-2009

You've spotted my strategy :) Suprised that North Africa is leading the voting - always found that a bit bland, at any scale.

valleyboy- 06-20-2009

yes but we Sicilian/italian are catching up

Etranger- 06-21-2009

A poll where 'all of the above' would be an option for me. I ended up voting for the Blitzkrieg era as I find it to cover some of the most interesting campaigns (& I'd include the 1941 German invasion of Greece & Yugoslavia as an extension of that). It is also the period when the more annoying panzer fetishists have the least to get aroused by - they have to use tactics, not firepower & everyone's tanks are mostly crap!. Having said that NW Europe & Burma would also be contenders for most favorite. Burmese jungle looks much like Vietnamese jungle does & my Gurkhas, 14th Army & Japanese can fight over the same terrain. For good measure they can all fight the Viet Minh too!

Giles- 06-22-2009

I'm glad that D-Day and Eastern Front didn't become run away favourites. Not being a WW2 gamer myself, I often come away from shows and websites/blogs with the impression that those two "theaters" are all that people bother with. Mind you, the WW2 games that linger in my memory are Levied Troop's Sealion game and the Crete airborne assault game I saw at Whiff of Grapeshot last year. If/when I take a look at WW2, I think it would have to be something with Anzacs - modelling the NZ Maori battalions would be fun :)

Peewee- 06-22-2009

I'm currently putting together the 21st Panzer for Normandy and have just started putting together the Guards Armoured Division. I've managed to resist doing any of the SS units even though they have the coolest stuff. I would love to do the Kiwis in Greece, Crete or Italy as well but haven't got around to it yet. There's a lot of crossover stuff from Indochina that I can bulk out for WW2 like Etranger as well when and if I ever get around to it.
