Eccles, word of advice: Be very, very carefull when signing things that have the word "Army" anywhere on them. Last time I did they kept me for a year and a half, without even a choice in colour of clothing. It's a mans life in the Salvation Army, eh Gungnir...? :blah:

Gungnir- 06-17-2009

No, we didn't have any donuts...

A couple of years ago the banner adverts at the top of the forum page included one for the US Army. I clicked on it by mistake and then, whilst trying to return to the forum, clicked on another link by mistake. Looking at the page I was on I realised that I was one click away from submitting an application form to join up. Mind you, being in the US Army probably isn't that different from being on this forum...

Well, my copy was sitting on my desk when I arrived at work. I really wish they wouldn't just ship it in a jiffy bag. The top of the spine is pushed in and a couple of corners on cover are bent. It's just not the best way to ship books, especially £60 ones. I'll post something about the book itself later when I've stopped being annoyed...

Eccles- 06-18-2009

You're annoyed? I made a special trip to the sorting office this morning to be told that my copy hadn't made it back there yet. :grr: Will try again tomorrow morning and if its not there, they'd better start getting the body bags out. :whack:

Eccles goes postal. There's a good title for a film, book, play.

Gungnir- 06-18-2009

Yes, but it does have a kinda "Ernest" feeling to it.

Eccles- 06-18-2009

I'm not just Ernest, I'm deadly serious!

Eccles- 06-19-2009

Got mine, its all in one piece and I'm very happy and no posties had to go to the great sorting office in the sky.

Giles- 06-22-2009

Mine's arrived; luckily there aren't the same problems than Andy had. It looks a very professional reprint.

Count Belisarius- 06-22-2009

I had an offer of a replacement copy but the dints were minor and to be honest it's probably no more than will happen when it gets carried around when I'm reading it. Apparently a couple of other people had similar problems so they will be amending the shipping process in future. As Giles said: a very nice reprint. And excellent customer service.

Giles- 06-22-2009

You're actually going to carry it around and read it? For £60, mine's going straight in an airtight box where it's going to remain! :mental:

Count Belisarius- 06-22-2009

Books are meant to be read! I may even write notes in the margins! ;)

Giles- 06-22-2009

I agree. I had some book cases delivered last week which means I can finally take most of my military/history books out of boxes and storage and put them out on shelves.

Count Belisarius- 06-22-2009

Putting new shelves up usually gets me in to trouble. Last time I pointed to a large pile of books as justifying the need for them and then had to spend ages explaining where all these new book had actually come from and how I had paid for them!
