Maelstrom Games Mansfield
You may have seen the advert for this shop in the latest WI. I popped in to visit yesterday as i was passing by (at least thats what i told the family as we detoured 30 minutes in the torrential rain...) It's really well done. The shop is large with a couple of gaming tables. Theres a wide range of stock - mostly of ranges that look good on shelves (so GW, Warmachine, FOW, Uncharted Seas etc). Historical stuff from Perries, Victrix, Warlord and Artizan. An excellent selection of paints, flocks, basing materials etc. All seemed well priced as well. Upstairs was a good sized games room with large number of tables hosting a warhammer tournament (which was very busy). The shop itself is open all week and is located out of town and easy to get to. There really does seem to be a new wave of gaming venues emerging (in the middle of a recession) - lets hope the new shops popping up get the support they need to recoup the investment. I'll certainly be getting my stuff from here in the future rather than GW or hobbycraft
I've a feeling there are two wargames shops in Mansfield and two model railway shops making it the densest area of hobby shops I've yet found. I have family nearby so really ought to visit. Mind you that model shop in Lincoln is a den of interesting terrain bits and bobs as well.
yes its a good one isnt it - typical traditional model shop where you can root around in a box in the basement for bits and pieces. It doesnt open on sundays though which is usually the only time i get to go into the town centre.
I think Maelstrom might have just moved out of the town centre so perhaps there are still only 2 shops......

A little unfair, I think the school results in Mansfield are average for the country!
I won't have that!
Down with Mansfield!
