This month I have mostly been reading...
Kokoda - by Paul Ham. About all the unpleasentness in PNG from the Japanese invasion up until their destruction. Great book.
Nemesis - by Max Hastings. About the closing year of the war in the Pacific. Another great book. So packed full of detail, but still immensely readable.
Horseman, Pass By - by Lindsey Baly. About the Australian Light Horse in WW1. Relatively new subject for me, so I was absolutely rivetted.
Battles on the Tigris - by Ron Wilcox. All about the Mesopotamian campaign in WW1. Dissappointingly brief, but more than made up for by a stunning collection of maps.

Not reading anything at the moment.
Telly you'll what though, any one any ideas about books like those we used to get in the 70s, about "Life in Communist Russia, the peoples story", and things like that?

Have you seen the Australian about the Kokoda trail, Peewee?
Etranger- 01-23-2009
Kokoda Track to be pedantic, Trail is an Americanism ....

Don't think they'd be very happy about that...

Ahhhhhhhh!
Now Eccles comment makes sense.
'Have you seen the Australian FILM...'
I was trying to work out who 'the Australian' was...
Yes, it's a good film. It prompted me to get the book, along with having just read another Paul Ham book on the Aussies in Vietnam.

Sorry, I was typing with someone elses fingers.

I'm currently reading the Groom's Supplement from the current edition of "Weddings" magazine. It's packed full of good advice. Apparently I should have started going to the gym 5 months ago, begun a course in facial massages 2 months ago and stopped chewing my fingernails 1 month ago  .

If you fancy running away, you can stay at my place.
Only thing is that you must also arrive with your AWI collection.
