HAY you lot, you all got some answering to do to my Misses.
She found my "book wish list" last night, and the prices.
90% of them are from what I have read of here.
Cornet- 02-23-2009
This is a rather extensive list, but mostly because I am a slow reader. The following represents a backlog exacerbated by 2-3 years of sporadic procrastination.
Currently reading:
The Minutemen and Their World, on RtL's recommendation
Naval Documents of the American Revolution, Vol. 10, for a project
Already purchased and in queue:
Treatise on Partisan Warfare by Johann Ewald
The Minute Men: The First Fight, on RtL's recommendation
Captain Dauntless: The story of Nicholas Biddle of the Continental Navy by William Bell Clark
Soldiers of the Revolutionary War, Osprey
Wish list:
Naval Documents of the American Revolution, Vol. 9, for a project
An Original and Authentic Journal of Occurrences During the Late American War by Roger Lamb
John Peebles' American War: The Diary of a Scottish Grenadier
The Services Of Lieut.-Colonel Francis Downman In France, North America And The West Indies
Encyclopedia of the American Revolution (2006 edition) by Mark Boatner
Fusiliers by Mark Urban, on Gile's recommendation
Encyclopedia of Continental Army units, on RtL's recommendation

"On "xyz" reccomendation" is whats done for me!!!
Cornet- 02-23-2009
Yes, this lot at WD3 (and GdeB:BG!) is quite a menace to my wallet. The wife loves books, but is still wary.
My birthday is coming up, however an original issue of Lamb's Journal is probably not in the offing ... maybe I'll buy it for her for her birthday in June!

Aye I've bought a couple of Mark Urbans books through reccomendations through here and I still havent read them yet
Cornet- 02-24-2009
Queue jumpers!
On Sunday, I ordered Uniforms of the American Revolution by Mollo/McGregor and Uniforms of the Armies in the War of the American Revolution by Charles Lefferts ... both on RtL's recommendation (though I've seen the Mollo/McGregor book previously and all I needed was a little shove). I will soon be among the poor house's best read residents on the topic of the American Revolution.

Nothing wargames orientated, but have just finished Alexandria by Lyndsey Davis.
Another wonderful whodunnit set in the Roman Empire. Cracking stuff, and as a fellow freelancer, I feel the heroes' pain about trying to make a living.....
MikP- 02-24-2009
Just finishing LLoyd's "Military Rhapsody" on the defences against an invasion by the French, and this'll be followed up by (another) LLoyd's "The French are Coming - The Invasion Scare of 1803-5".
Hopefully by the time I've finished those "The Invasion Scare of 1801 - plans for the defence of Northumberland against the French" will also have arrived and I can get on with that.
Anyone spot a pattern?!? :hmm:

How's that bunker coming? Here's a construction tip: do not use blocks of cheese to build your walls -- it only attracts them. And definitely do not stucco the exterior with brie.
Gungnir- 02-24-2009
One of the wholesellers had a rather decent Brie on special only 50 cents for a small one, I could sample some before buying.
To my big surprise it was made in Bavaria! Naturally they callid id cremiger weichKäse or so, but it was darn good mild Brie.
And I dislike the Bavarians at least as much as Walloons, so it was very hard to admit this.

Normally I'ld say: "You would have to kill me first," but you would only take thay as an invitation.

Either you know me too well, OR you are being rather presumptious. :blah:
Na. Do not kill Niederländer. They are O.K.
