Trailer for 'The Pacific'
For anyone who wants to watch it, there is now an official trailer for the new Tom Hanks mini series The Pacific. It's due to be released early 2010 and looks every bit as good as band of brothers. The 10 part mini series follows 3 US marines through the pacific campaign. http://www.pacificfans.com/

Yep from the look of the trailer I dont want to miss the first episode.

Timmo- 06-23-2009

Looks fantastic.

DO want!

Big Dave- 06-23-2009

Its taken its time getting here!

Oh no, Band of Brothers catapulted me into three years of frenzied 20mm WW2 buying and painting for NW Europe. I've been tempted with 28mm far east, this might just do it. I'd love to see one of these done following the exploits of a British unit through the desert war and beyond.

Battledamaged- 06-23-2009

Yep, would like to see one of these done for the Brits, Blitzkrieg, the return to NW Europe, Far and Middle East, as it is, years from now, aliens/historians will think the Yanks did everything!

I re-watched Band of Brothers last week and thought it's a shame that no one's likely to do a British version; the Desert Rats would be a good choice.

Cornet- 06-23-2009

I re-watched Band of Brothers last week and thought it's a shame that no one's likely to do a British version; the Desert Rats would be a good choice. Actually, if I remember correctly that sort of is the British version. Many, perhaps most, of the actors portraying American soldiers were British nationals; for instance Dexter Fletcher.

Giles- 06-23-2009

But Cornet, that only shows that Brits make better actors (I mean, how often do you see American actors trying to portray non-Americans)....

Cornet- 06-23-2009

Evidentially, you've never seen Mel Gibson's "Hamlet." forumer.com/images/smiles/wdlovesme/wink.gif> Note: Yes, I know he's arguably an Aussie.

Cornet- 06-23-2009

... the Desert Rats would be a good choice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rat_Patrol Ever seen this? It's not terribly authentic, but entertaining none the less.

James Masters had everybody bluffed when he played Spike in Buffy The Vampire Slayer : most people believed he actually was a Brit. Gwyneth Paltrow is notoriously good at British accents (she's half-British though, I think ) and so is Robert Downey Jr.

Giles- 06-23-2009

Evidentially, you've never seen Mel Gibson's "Hamlet." No, but I have seen Tom Cruise's Von Stauffenwhatever :D

Arthur- 06-23-2009

I have seen Tom Cruise's Von Stauffenwhatever :D Ah, you mean Valkyrie, that well-known documentary film which at long last proves that all high ranking nazis graduated from Oxford and Eton ?
