Sharp Practice wins TMP Award; Impetus 2nd
Fellas, for what it's worth, our dear Rich is in the headlines yet again, having just been awarded the TMP "Best New Historical Ruleset or Supplement of 2008" for Sharp Practice. Also Lorenzo, who comes here regularly, came an honourable second with Impetus. Well done, Rich and Lorenzo, thoroughly deserved!

Congrats to both!

Timmo- 06-24-2009

A well deserved win and second place. Perhaps that might silence some of the TMP nutters.

First class result there -well deserved win for both parties.

Big Dave- 06-24-2009

A well deserved award for Rich!

Thanks lads, I must admit that I am hugely pleased with the result.  :stars: Well done to Lorenzo too, good to see WD3 represented so well.

Well done to you both. Am I the only person never to have played either set?

LardyRich- 06-25-2009

Simon, You are, and that could lead to you developing serious symptoms. I'd reccomend a large dose of both rules. In fact you could do a wargaming Pepsi Challenge; try the two and see if you can tell the difference! Maybe that idea doesn't quite work... :eh:

Whilst you're talking Sharp Practice....is there an official late(r) 19th century version? The basic system sounds like just what i need to get my French and Mexicans on the table again so has anyone done the work for me and adapted the rules already?

LardyRich- 06-25-2009

Doug Funnily enough I did a Maximilian scenario in the Christmas Special (I think, it may have been last summer), with the Legion hunting down the hand of Captain D'Anjou after Cameron. There is no official verison, but the rules cover up to the Minie/Enfield rifle, so they'll be fine for actions up until around 1864. After that we will need some amendments, and they are coming with the ACW/Franco-Prussian/mid 19th C. version of Sharp Practice. Rich

Thoroughly deserved - SP was certainly the best new rule set I tried in 2008. Not familiar with Impetus, but well done too, Lorenzo.

LardyRich- 06-25-2009

My only desire is that there could be an AWI variant. I keep wishing... Rich

OK, OK....... :( :flame:

Congratulations gents, couldn't happen to a better pair of guys!

The ACW version sounds just the ticket for various stalled projects of mine - does it have an ETA at the moment?
