Der Alte Fritz- 09-11-2009
What Are You Doing This Weekend?
Old Fritzie is getting up at the crack of dawn to drive an hour to a saturday morning In The Grand Manner game that starts at 8:30 or 9-ish. Somehow I got assigned the job of being Napoleon for the game, which is a continuation of a monster game that we have been playing once a month since last May. The last time we reached Turn 24 and decided that nightfall had occurred. This meant that we could redeploy anything on the table within 36 inches of its existing deployment.
I have Davout and the Old Guard infantry and Guard cavalry set up to attack a salient in the Russian-Austrian line, which looks promising, but the Great White Menace :blah: redeployed to come after me. It should be nice and bloody and lots of fun.
Hopefully, the Missus will spare me a little time on Sunday to get a little painting time in, and then its opening day for American football with the Bears vs the Green Bay Packers. Oh boy!

I've cleared the decks for a fancy dress pubcrawl on saturday evening. I'm really looking forward to it... NOT!

Well on the assumption that the weekend starts on Friday night, it has begun with me preparing some bases, that arrived this morning from PWS, for my Sudan stuff. I suspect tomorrow will be out somewhere with my girlfriend and getting our stuff packed and sorted for our next trip. There are cars to clean and a garden to look after. But the basing task will continue over the weekend in fits and starts.
I have to work part of Sunday but only for about 3-4 hours and I hope to get a 3-4 hour session of varnishing and basing in Sunday evening. Its hardly riveting modeling but it has to be done before I can move on to more exciting stuff.

Finishing off two Regiments (mounted and dismounted) of 15mm Union cavalry, tonight.
Kids duty tomorrow - bloody shopping for shoes! (How many do kids need these days?) followed by Romsey Country Show, followed by beers and finishing off ACW buildings tomorrow evening.
Sunday - Colours, Huzzah! Prepping my first two Union Infantry Regiments when I get home.

Today we received a four page questionaire for the foundation from the tax man, it will undoubtedly call for a four hundred page answer. The fun never stops.

T'ai chi on saturday morning, then on to a den of miscreants for WWII convoy-raiding (house rules).
Sunday... 12-hour shift at the walk-in clinic, strapping up ankles, peering at wee under the microscope, and fishing foreign objects out of people's catflaps.
It's either that, or get a real job.

If we assume the weekend begins on Friday evening, then my reality is get woken up by hours of my neighbour's very bad and very loud music (to which there is no point requesting it turned off, neighbour also being drunk  and refusing to respond the last time I tried). Hence the posting at 3.45am.
Anyway, actual plans are - Colours on Saturday, in fact today, in approx 6 hours and 45 minutes... then on up to Bristol.
Sunday - pore over Saturday's Colours purchases, not sure past that, other than contemplating three more days off before returning to Southampton, returning to work, returning to my neighbours...
(Ok, moan over :sniper: )

Heading off to Sussex shortly to spend the day with my aunt and uncle; perhaps a bit of painting later when we get back. Tomorrow will be the standard fare of painting until about 11am (or whenever the Kiwi gets up and demands breakfast) followed by shopping for baby stuff.
Painting wise, I've been distracted by First Crusade figures all week and so have 4 AWI and 4 Carlist Wars figures that I really do have to finish....assuming I can put aside the pack of Turkish heavy cavalry I started last night  .
Jameson- 09-12-2009
Started basing and painting 250+ WWII naval miniatures. That should keep me busy for a few months.
Saturday night Im off to a BBQ and then the pub. I hope to get some cycling in Sunday evening. Maybe I'll run into Eccles.

Organising a bargain Macedonian army from e-bay into Pyrrhus' army.
Figures are an average paint job that need a bit of tarting up.
Combined with some new purchases made at Partizan, I should get a very nice looking army.
Just need Aventine to hurry up and release their Pyrrhic stuff to finish things off.

We're on Crete. So no painting for a couple of weeks. Might make it to Souda Bay and Maleme later next week. It's about a three hour drive. It's been pissing with rain since we got here (4am local time Saturday morning).
Theo - pack up enough soldiers for a game and get yourself over here, have access to a table tennis table!!!
