What are you playing?
We have the workbench and the reading lists but what about the games are you currently playing or about to play?
Duck Crusader- 10-28-2009
War at Sea and Battlelore on a regular basis, getting ready to start up some more WAB or possibly FoG. LOTR and Sharpe's Practice occasionally. Everything else has just been sitting on the shelf.
Big Dave- 10-28-2009

Bag the Hun last night, we'll be dry-running our Mud & Blood game for Antwerp next week (loads of sexy new terrain to make it look even prettier than it did at Salute), in general lots of IABSM3.

Is BTH2 ready for production or is it currently being play tested?
Jeremy- 10-28-2009
We play IABSMv2 with the v3 playtest mods pretty much every week. Had an awesome game out of the Welsh Guards supplement last night. I have to say, our group are really enjoying these rules lately.
Next Tueday I hope to take my WW1 planes out for their first spin using the Lardie's Algy rules. Can't wait!

Bag the Hun last night.

I suspect that when these rules are released I will again be parted from my money for the rules and some planes. Have never played WW2 air but think it could be really fun!

We're just at the end of the playtest phase and are now attempting to get the formatting right. BTH2 is a huge expansion of the original rules which were, originally, written purely for the Battle of Britain. Our game last night involved nearly forty Japanese planes taking on a US aircraft carrier and its escorts. Quite awesome to see on the table.
LFS goes to the printer in the next ten days, my anticipation is that BTH2 will follow very rapidly.

I'm very excited about getting my paws on both. Wow, 40 planes that must have looked brilliant – I've gone up to 24.

Do try WW2, depending on mood, I sometimes prefer it to WW1. The planes pack so much more destructive punch so its exciting from that point of view but it seems to get less fiddly and is more sweeping in character, if that makes any sense. In our games we tend to run out of ammo quickly so games don't tend to last more than a hour (real time) as pilots break off and dive for home out of ammo.

We use Charles Grant`s "Battle" for virtually every period we game.
I`ve been painting those Yanks for Mexico over the last few weeks, which led to the game last weekend.
This weekend we are going to re-run the classic "Bratwurst village" game out of Terry Wise`s "Introduction to Battlegaming".
Obviously I`m going to re-set the forces to make the game more interesting (you`ll have to re-read the game to understand).
John Ray- 10-28-2009
Setting up a small Bavarian Succession game to be played next Tuesday with Peter Johnstone of Spencer Smith Miniatures.
This is the first time this collection will have been on the table.

I have an ECW game with Timmo and Eclaireur coming up in a couple of weeks, unsing "Forlorn Hope". This will be my second game of anything this year  I need to finish off a couple of command bases and my artillery, to join my small force of 3 foot regiments.

Playing? What' s this playing lark? Don't you just paint the figures, read the rules. mags, forums etc. and then agonise over what period to paint next? ;)
It's been months since my last game but I have Monday 9th booked off and a mate coming round for a game! It'll probably all go wrong. I'll be ill. The kids will be ill. Any number of things...
But at the moment it's a plan. Probably a big Romans v Carthaginians and Spanish using Field of Glory type plan.
Hopefully...

We had a poll on this forum years ago about how many games you had to have a year to qualify as a "proper wargamer". I think "at least one a week" was the most popular vote :D
