The Barmaley fountain in Stalingrad, featuring children dancing around a crocodile, is one of the best known sights of WWII.
I just came across a Russian site with pics of the fountain during the war, and in its restored (though waterless) splendor in the Summer of '45, before the repair of the buildings had even begun, judging by the pics.

Nice find Gungs!
Does anyone else find this fountain more than a little spooky? _________________ Anyone fancy a snog? |

Yes, but a lot of the super-realistic heroic art of both Nazi Germany and Stalins Soviet Union have that effect on me, in general. _________________ Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
